Ashurst Drive and Headley Heath Approach Roads Association
(ADHHARA)
2022 News Letter and Subscription Request
Headley Heath Approach
Dear Headley Heath Approach Resident
Introduction
Following the past few years with COVID and lock downs the Roads Association is keen to ensure a return to the active, regular management of the road to ensure safe and easy access for residents, visitors and deliveries. The 2021 AGM was delayed until Feb 2022 and the committee is keen to get the calendar back on track for the 2022 subscriptions, repairs and AGM. Below are details of this year’s subscriptions, our new web site and proposed dates for the 2022 AGM and road repairs.
If you are a long term resident; thank you for your continued support. If you are a new resident, please engage with the work of the Roads Association and ensure your subscription reaches us in time to allow the annual repairs to be completed before winter. (This both ensures timely repairs are complete but also helps the quality of the repairs as tarmac or road lining laid in cold and wet conditions is much less resilient to wear)
To note that the ADHHA Roads Association has been in existence for 50 years now and has represented the interest of the residents to maintain Headley Heath Approach and Ashurst Drive. Many years ago ,at its inception, the council were looking at adopting the byways which meant a substantial widening, with people losing part of their front gardens, allowance for a pavement and road lighting. The self-management of the roads by the Association enables us to maintain the rural feel of our community without the intrusion of street lighting and avoiding the scenario of a potholed unkept track, making access difficult and blighting property sales/values and the general quality of life.

· Subscriptions collected in July/August

Maintenance Plan
In general Headley Heath Approach is in good repair.
As part of the works in late 2021 and 2022 several maintenance items were resolved. No works had taken place in the previous year due to COVID. Principally these works were:
1. Repair of the cross road gully near the top of Headley Heath Approach.
2. Several local repairs to areas where the road surface had degraded.
3. Re-marking of all the “Humps” plus remarking of the 10 mph speed limits.
No further works are planned for 2022 in Headley Heath Approach.
Longer term the advice is that resurfacing will be required in the next 5-10 years with minor ongoing repairs. Typically, ongoing repairs and the standing charges cost Headley Heath Approach circa £5000 annually. The likely cost, at 2021 prices, for resurfacing the road is in the order of £30,000. With good levels of subscription contribution in the road and the current reserves it is likely that the Association will be on course to achieve funding for this although given inflationary forces there may be limited funds remaining after that.
