2023 News Letter and Subscription Request
Headley Heath Approach
Dear Headley Heath Approach Resident
Introduction
Please find below the Ashurst Drive and Headley Heath Approach Roads Association 2023 Subscription letter.
If you are a long term resident; thank you for your continued support. If you are a new resident, please engage with the work of the Roads Association. This offers great value for money for the benefits of safe and convenient access to our houses.
The road has remained in good condition although a number of bare patches started to appear mainly at the top of the road particularly in the wet spring. The 2023 repairs have been completed and the road swept as agreed at the last AGM to clear the build-up of soil and debris at the edges.
The subscription response in Headley Heath was not as strong as in recent years. In relation to the big benefits the subscription is small and to maintain good access to our properties we need to come together as a community.
The Website
To improve communication and reduce administration costs the Associations website is used to inform residents of the details of upcoming work and meetings.
Please google and have a look. All details of meetings, payment details, history, forthcoming maintenance and road closures for works are included amongst other useful information.
A central email address for the association for residents to contact the committee is:
contact@adhhara.com
Register your email to have information on forthcoming meetings, subscription information, maintenance works etc sent directly to you.
Whilst it is the hope that we can become paper free, all documents will continue to be available hard copy on request and households not opting into email will still be mailed hard copy directly of the annual Newsletter, AGM notification and Subscription Request
Hedgehogs
Sad news that a large number of hedgehogs have turned up dead in recent weeks. It has been fantastic to see a resurgence in their numbers this year on Boxhill and upsetting to hear of so many deaths. No cause is known. We would urge everyone to look out for these great little animals and in particular be careful with gardens pesticides such as slug pellets and check bonfires before lighting etc.

Calendar
The typical calendar for the Roads Association this year is as follows:
· Notification of subscriptions issued September each year.
· Subscriptions collected in September/October
· AGM November (This year will be Tues 7th November) at Box Hill Church 7pm
· Proposal for maintenance in each road is drawn up in July / August
· The work is carried out in September before bad weather sets in.
Maintenance Plan
In general Headley Heath Approach remains in good repair.
The 2023 works were completed in September 2023
1. A number of small surface patches near the top of Headley Heath Approach.
2. Several local repairs to areas where the road surface had degraded.
3. Re-marking of three “Humps” triangles only
Additionally the road was swept on Monday the 14th September (as agreed at the last AGM)
Longer term the advice is that resurfacing will be required in the next 5-10 years with minor ongoing repairs. Typically, ongoing repairs and the standing charges cost Headley Heath Approach circa £3-5000 annually. The likely cost, at 2021 prices, for resurfacing the road is in the order of £30,000. With good levels of subscription contribution in the road and the current reserves it is likely that the Association will be on course to achieve funding for this although given inflationary forces there may be limited funds remaining after that.
